Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)

The eyes are the focal point of the face. Eyes leave a lasting impression during interaction with others. They may also be the first to show signs of aging. These changes can convey an inappropriate message of tiredness or sadness. While it is normal to have fat around the eye to protect it from injury, as we age the skin surrounding this fat relaxes, and the fat starts to protrude. The upper eyelid has two fat pockets, and the lower eyelid has three. Sometimes excess eyelid skin or fat is significant enough to the obscure vision. The removal of excess skin folds and fat the can restore a more youthful, rested appearance. Eyelid surgery may be done in combination with other procedures to provide full facial rejuvenation.
